Because our current environment is surrounded by COVID-19, I believe that many people feel nervous and anxious. When people don’t know what this virus is or how to prevent COVID-19, all of this is unknown and frightening. So I think your theme provides a good resource for everyone to let people no longer panic but actively respond. 

On your PPT, I saw a detailed explanation and a detailed solution. This is a very complete teaching plan, so that people can see it at a glance. At first I was surprised to see that the teaching method you advocated was direct instruction. I think there will be some pressure on learners for direct instruction. But your theme is about COVID-19, which solves all my doubts. The teaching method you choose is a very sensible method on this topic, because in the face of viruses, we don’t need to give everyone time to play freely, but tell the learners the harm caused by COVID-19 and how to solve it.  I have a suggestion, if it does not meet your requirements, you can ignore it. I think hand washing is a very serious issue. You can tell learners how long to wash your hands instead of just telling them to wash their hands often. For example, every time you go home, the first thing is to wash your hands, which can be specified as the time for a song. Second, to tell learners how to wash their hands effectively, you can provide a video for learners to watch on their own. A talk by Katarina Blom shows us that we need to work on building our happiness up and remove the negative thoughts rather than just thinking positively.

With all of the things we have going on in our lives, full of distractions and commitments, it is hard to keep focus on the things that matter. Our minds wander a lot of the time and we get bogged down. When this happens it becomes hard to focus on the positives and we become more in tune with focusing on the negatives going on around us. Our thoughts are hard to control, so we need to create positive action over our minds.

If we begin to build healthy habits in our mind by doing actions which give positive results, both for ourselves and others, we can get in to a positive repetition and build up the skill of happiness. This can be done by focusing on the relationships we have around us and making sure we care more and think more of those we know. When we make an effort in this way, we can slowly build outcomes which leads to the happy feelings we need in life, and also spread the happiness and skill of creating this to others.

1.  What kind of interaction would the video require from your students? Does it force them to respond in some way (inherent)?

The video uses an exercise to interact with the learner and tells everyone the truth that we don’t always do what others tell us. We prefer to do what others do. This is important for creating happiness for ourselves and others.This video does not force learners to respond. Just shared with learners how to create happiness.

2. In what way are they likely to respond to the video on their own, e.g. make notes, do an activity, think about the topic (learner-generated)?

Learners can take different reactions through this video. I suggest that learners can write down their thoughts while watching videos and think independently about what is happiness and how to create happiness. After watching the video, you can share your thoughts with other learners. This is an advantage of interactive learning. Learners can think again and share more ideas during the sharing process.

3. How could the video have been designed to generate more or better activity from viewers or students?

Many interesting short films can be used to show how to create happiness, rather than some theoretical knowledge. Because by showing small videos to learners, they can be immersed in them and can feel more intuitively, which makes the thinking more clear.

4. How will you address any potential barriers for your learners in the use of this video to ensure an inclusive design?

If the learner has problems with hearing, the video will be provided with subtitles. If there is a problem with vision, the sound of the video is very clear so that the learner can fully understand the content of the video.

How can you adjust your planned learning activities to meet the needs of your learners if an unexpected event occurs? (for example, a pandemic arises and many of your employees must now work from home – how will you ensure that they can still do their jobs? What training will they need, and how will you deliver it, knowing they must remain at home?) This is a common discussion thread right now as schools and universities “pivot” to teaching online.

Over the past few months, due to the impact of the COVID-19, both staff and students can only stay at home to prevent close social infections.Both teachers and students are faced with a huge challenge in this situation, that is, how to better impart knowledge to students, and how students can obtain knowledge without barriers.

In response to the above challenges, we will adjust the learning plan to meet the needs of learners.

First, create an online teaching method that can communicate face-to-face with students through the Internet. Zoom meeting is a good application software. Learners only need to download this software and use the meeting room number to enter the meeting room. In the meeting room, learners can see the teacher’s face and the faces of other learners. Not only that, but you can also speak freely in the meeting room. When there is something that you do not understand, you can signal the teacher and ask questions, and the teacher will solve the problem for the learner.

In addition, this application software has many very useful functions. For example, when the teacher wants to show the learner the PPT, the teacher’s screen can be shared with the learner, so that the learner can watch the PPT like in the classroom. Also, the teacher can also record the content of the entire lesson, and finally share the video to the learner. When the learner has questions after the class, they can watch the content of the class again.

Another helpful application is Microsoft Teams which can solve the interaction problems between learners. In this application, learners are divided into different groups, where learners can discuss problems. This form is conducive to communication and learning among learners.

Due to the impact of the COVID-19, the pressure on learners is greater than before, and they will be anxious and doubtful, but adjusting the learning plan and applying it in this environment, I believe that both the learner and the teacher will overcome the difficulties and make the learner satisfied .

INQUIRY-BASED LEARNING

What is inquiry-based learning?

Inquiry-based learning is a learning method aimed at students’ roles in the learning process. Encourage teachers to explore materials, ask questions and share ideas instead of telling teachers what they need to know.

Inquiry-based learning uses different learning methods, including group discussions and guided learning. Students do not have to remember facts and materials but learn while doing. This allows them to accumulate knowledge through exploration, experience and discussion (“What is,”2019).

In my opinion, inquiry-based learning focuses on students thinking and asking why. A really good teacher, she will put all the center on the feedback of the students and interact with the whole process instead of talking for a long time before asking the students if they understand. An excellent teacher should not only explain the knowledge points to the students, but more importantly, allow the students to think independently and draw the same explanation by their own efforts.

Where a good teacher is, a prominent feature of student learning is that they adopt a research attitude towards the learning object. The teacher did not directly tell the students the existing theorems, inferences, and conclusions, but guided the students to ask their questions and assumptions, and the teacher then explained and supplemented them one by one. In this case, knowledge is not passively accepted, but acquired actively.

If the student can rely on his own efforts to analyze and summarize the materials in the process of analysis, then the knowledge he has acquired will be very valuable, and he can cultivate a very good habit-that is, through his own efforts to study and explore To overcome difficulties and solve problems.

One story I want to share is my best learning experience. In that learning experience, I learned that when you are studying, prepare a good goal, and you are eager to complete this goal, challenge this goal, then you will realize that there is a lot of motivation to accomplish this goal. During that study, I was preparing for the university entrance examination called GaoKao. The university entrance examination is no stranger to Chinese students. Students need to put a lot of effort into achieving good results and compete with more than one million people. At that time, my goal was to get into university. If I didn’t get into university, it means that I couldn’t find a suitable job. Therefore, my goal gave me a lot of motivation. In order to arrange my time more reasonably, I will make plans for myself every day and complete them strictly. Every time a plan is completed, there will be a great sense of accomplishment and it will make me more and more interested to continue to complete my plan. I think my approach is behaviorist. I thought that this goal would bring me a lot of benefits, and when I complete my plan, it will stimulate my nerves to make me feel satisfied until the goal is finally achieved. In the process of accomplishing the goal, I also encountered many problems. As we all know, learning is a boring thing for many people, because in the process of learning, there is no fun at all. When I want to give up when I feel dull, I stop to think, why do I need to learn? What is my purpose? What are the benefits for me if I challenge successfully? I will analyze it carefully. In my brain, I believe that this matter is necessary to challenge, then it will re-stimulate my brain, including my body. Over time, the more plans you complete, the more you will experience happiness in this study, and you will reap the unexpected pleasure and satisfaction.
